It is our first time to celebrate Christmas during a pandemic. The Covid-19 situation has dampened spirits but let’s not let it drag us all the way down even during the cheeriest time of the year, Christmas!

As we all wait it out from home, below are three smart and simple DIY ideas to make the nice ones nicer and the naughty into crafty! DIY doesn’t only stand for “Do It Yourself” it also means “Do It in the Yuletide,” and you won’t go wrong; you can leave them happy as you whip up the most delectable treats for this year’s Christmas dinner table. Just don’t forget to put your favorite Christmas carols on to get the mood on…

“All I want for Christmas” Cards

Mariah Carey’s hit song with its catchy tempo and remains her biggest international success! It remains the bestselling Christmas single by a female artist and one of the best-selling singles of all time. And the beautiful message rings true… that indeed, all we should ever want for Christmas are our loved ones. Inculcating this idea among our children is something very important, that their love and presence are all we need. Surely, their love put into Christmas cards speak volumes more than expensive presents!

You simply need to use old cardboard or scrap paper sticking out from your office and turn it into papier-mâché or cute, Christmassy cutouts. Your handy cookie cutter can serve as tracing guide and work wonders for you! The most important thing is that you personalize it and send them out! For sure, it will warm the hearts of your recipients… Good old traditional stamped mail works best!

“The Little Christmas Tree” Ornaments

As you listen to Nat King Cole’s song, “The Little Christmas Tree” let the kids envision what dainty little ornaments they’d like to hang up in their tree.

All you will need are Styrofoam balls or block, paper clips and decorating materials such as glitter glue, paint and stickers!

They are so easy to make! The first step is to unravel one end of your paper clips and fasten it on the core of the Styrofoam balls or blocks, leaving one end hooked, which you will then use to attach them to the tree.

Gather your decorating materials and go crazy! We suggest colorful paints glitters, but it’s all really up to you. You can also match the colors of the DIY balls to the rest of the decoration in your home.

“Jingle Bell” Gingerbread or sugar cookie house

Building an adorable little Christmas house made from gingerbread is the easiest activity that the kids and even the kids-at-heart can enjoy, while listening to “Jingle Bell Rock.” Simply purchase the gingerbread house kits with baked pieces that the kids can glue together with edible adhesives, then design their own way using the icings that come in each kit! They can sing carols right outside their own little houses before they bite into their own yummy gingerbread house creations!

Should you prefer cookies, we suggest buying premade packs of sugar cookies and simply pop them in your oven and then start building using edible glue and icing, sprinkles and all your other favorite dessert toppers!

Try out these fun activities with your little ones. And always remember to D.I.Y:

Dream big and keep chasing those dreams!

Inspire others and remain an inspiration!

Young-at-Heart by spending time with the littlest ones in your family!
