MANILA, Apr 12 (Mabuhay) — Over a million Filipinos have been given their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, presidential  spokesperson Harry Roque said Monday.

Roque said that as of April 12, 1,007,356 individuals already got their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine while 132,288 people already got their second dose.

Roque said these make the total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered at 1,139,644.

“We are third in Southeast Asia, behind Indonesia with 14.7 million [doses administered] and Singapore with 1.7 million,” Roque said during the Palace briefing.

Of the over a million vaccinated, 965,169 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were given to health workers—the first in the priority list followed by senior citizens and persons with comorbidities.

In addition, 280,569 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the National Capital Region—the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

At least 3,025,600 doses of Sinovac and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine supply have been delivered to the Philippines so far.

The Philippines has 146,519 active COVID-19 cases as of April 12.

Of this number, at least 58,000 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Metro Manila alone in the last two weeks. (MNS)
