The Valley welcomes Radiant Beauty Skin Care Med Spa which has recently launched in Las Vegas, to cater to the demand for top-class yet affordable beauty and skin care services, after the astounding success of their first branch located in Anaheim, California.

Behind this successful beauty enterprise is no less than Ms.  Frances Calayan-Cuento, N.P.  To many Filipinos, her maiden name, “Calayan” may be synonymous to “excellence in skincare and aesthetics;” indeed, Frances comes from a family tradition of health practitioners and successful entrepreneurs from the Philippines and she now carries on the torch triumphantly, building on her family’s legacy but also carving out her own identity with expert care that only she and her husband Muyie, can provide. Frances graduated Cum Laude from the California State University in Fullerton with a degree in Nursing before obtaining her Master of Science, Nursing from Azusa Pacific University in California. She is now a Licensed Family Nurse Practitioner with extensive training in Aesthetics. And if that’s not impressive enough, the ever-growing clientele of Radiant Beauty Skin care Med Spa also get to enjoy exceptional service by the expert, artful hands of Mariel “Muyie” Cuento, R.N. the beloved husband and business partner of Frances.

Muyie graduated from the Far Eastern University in Manila, with a Bachelor of Nursing degree. He has been working in the Philippines for a significant amount of time before moving to the United States, where he has been a Registered Nurse. Frances avers,” On top of Muyie being nurse for 2 decades, Muyie has also recently completed Master of Science Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program at the Walden University.” Committed to each other and to excellence, this husband and wife tandem make an impressive force in the competitive arena of beauty and aesthetics.

But impressive their credentials and pedigrees may be, they are a breath of fresh air: unassuming, humble and kind; they’re the kind of people you would trust with everything, especially your deepest inhibitions and secrets. Frances recounts how it was a struggle when first moved to the USA, back when she was only 20, and coming from a family of professionals and high achievers, she sought to find her identity while honoring her family. “From my dad’s side, Calayan – everyone are doctors. It’s only my dad who took a different albeit still impressive path. My dad is a Certified Public Accountant and one of his brothers, my uncle, is a lawyer, but the rest – even their spouses- all doctors.” So, after years of enriching herself, she finally understood that being both a nurse practitioner and a businesswoman truly made her happy. “My husband and I started to dabble in business back in early 2018. We were sub-leasing a small space in Rowland Heights when I was nurse practitioner for a primary care community clinic. We offered Ultherapy, literally non-surgical face lift, Thermage, and many other services, all of which are FDA-approved. Things went well that only after six months, we decided to open our own space in Orange County, at a spot closer to our home, so that it was easier to manage and so that we can easily come home to our son.” Going from strength to strength, the two are now finally able to serve more, via their Vegas satellite branch! Having Colleen Crawford as their endorser also helped them catch the eye of many Filipino Americans. “But many are surprised when they find how affordable our services are. The reason why we offer at a much lower price is because Muyie and I do the treatment ourselves.” Now only does this lower their cost, but such also make their patients feel like VIPs. “We have built clientele who trusts us because it is either Muyie or myself who would administer the treatments. About the price, to give you an idea, Ulthera is about $1500 for the lower face. Those who come in agree that we are the most affordable, even compared to clinics in the Philippines. We also offer in-house financing.”

On the home front, the couple attributes their success to the joy that their 4-year-old son, Miguel Franco, or simply “Maco,” brings. “Maco is the greatest thing that has ever happened to Muyie and I. No greater blessing than him. He’s even our “lucky charm!” Frances lovingly adds, “my son has given my life purpose. Everything has truly come together; I found balance in both my life as a medical practitioner and also as a businesswoman. The meaning and beauty that my son adds to all the good things happening in our lives now, are just beyond words.”
